Summary: Summer water bills can soar with lawn and
landscape watering. Of all residential water uses, landscape irrigation
presents the greatest water-saving opportunity.
Excessively high water
pressure contributes to inefficient landscape water use in many Front
Range communities, including Fort Collins. Reducing water pressure
to sprinkler manufacturersÕ recommended levels alone can reduce water
use by one-third. Evapotranspiration (ET) based irrigation scheduling
can result in significant additional savings.
Learn how to maintain
an environmentally friendly turf while reducing landscape water use
by up to fifty percent. Charlotte Harms, Certified Landscape Irrigation
Auditor and owner of Component Systems LLC, will show you how to significantly
reduce landscape water use without the work and expense of re-doing
your current landscape and sprinkler system.
Topics covered include:
- The environmental benefits of turf grass.
- Adjusting water pressure
for maximum efficiency.
- Evapotranspiration (ET) irrigation scheduling.
- Types of sprinkler clocks.
- Soil amendment for new and existing
lawns.
- Selecting an irrigation contractor.
Low or no-cost changes
to your landscape irrigation practices can result in dramatic water
savings. Make 2007 the year that you get control of your sprinkler
system!
